Medical Genetics Center

The MGZ - Medizinisch Genetisches Zentrum takes an interdisciplinary approach to caring for your patients. We offer expertise in the field of human genetics, first and foremost for those diseases tested in our cyto- and molecular genetic laboratory. Those members of our team specialising in particular areas and their contact information can be found under "Contact Persons".

Genetic counselling may be indicated by a number of different factors (see "Genetic Counselling"). Every consultation is followed by a report summarising the content of the session, an opinion as to the genetic disease affecting your patient and/or his or her family and, where appropriate, a recommended course of action.

You can also take advantage of our laboratory services by sending us blood samples. The interpretation of individual test results is personally handled by the doctor most knowledgeable about the clinical manifestations of the disease and/or specialising in that particular scientific field. At the end of each report you'll find the name of this colleague; this person is also available should you have any questions or concerns. Since the test results we produce are not solely technical lab reports, we place special importance on clinical data in order that we may include information on and recommendations regarding differential diagnostics. We hope that with this approach we can make a substantial contribution to the care of your patients and look forward to working with you.

Our accredited laboratory regularly participates in German and European external quality assessment schemes.
