DNA Storage

Klinische Symptomatik

After the completion of molecular genetic diagnostics, all remaining unused DNA will be stored on location for a period of more than 15 years and is thus available for future testing.

With patient consent, additional testing can be requested by the attending physician. In some cases, it may be advisable to obtain samples in order to extract and preserve DNA without an immediate need for genetic testing. This would apply when, for example, certain family members are very old or will be unavailable for geographic reasons.

In cases where a child's health is threatened by an illness of potentially genetic origin, DNA preservation is especially important for parents who may want to have more children. If an illness remains unexplained, or if molecular genetic diagnostics are, as yet, incapable of confirming a diagnosis or identifying the genetic mutations that cause a disease, one should obtain and preserve the largest possible amount of DNA.

Please be sure to indicate if preservation of the largest possible amount of DNA is required.
