Is taking samples painful?

No. Taking samples for a paternity test is complete painless. We normally attain enough DNA for our analysis from mucous membrane cells collected with a cotton swab of the inner cheek ("saliva test"). However, court-ordered proof of paternity/parentage requires the analysis of blood samples.
