What can a chromosome test do and not do?

Chromosome analysis determines the number and structure of chromosomes. Changes beyond microscopic resolution can not be detected. Many genetic illnesses are caused by very specific mutations in a person's DNA; in order to detect these mutations we offer molecular cytogenetic or molecular genetic diagnostics.
